BMSS is run by a group of parent volunteers, dedicated to support the Squad in assisting with the administration, development and progression of the Squad

Volunteering

If you feel you could contribute in any way, we would be very interested in hearing from you, whether you can spare time ad hoc to assist with gala duties or are willing to join our Committee or train to become an Official we would like to hear from you.  It is our goal to provide support and training as required and assist with attending courses and qualifications if necessary.

What can I do?

There are many positions that we need our Volunteers to help with.  Details of the Committee and non-Committee roles can be found on the Squad Contacts page, alternatively detailed below are some of the additional Volunteer roles:

Technical: Teachers / Coaches, Offical Timekeeper, Official Judge, Official Starter, Official Referee.

Non-Technical: Team Manager, Poolside Helper, Admin Functions. Gala Announcer, Recorders, Runners, Door Money & Programme Sales, Door Sign In/Registration, Marshall / Steward, Raffle Organiser.

How much can I do?

You can do as little or as much as you like.  We are aware that everyone has busy lives and that time is precious and so you may be limited in what you can do however if everyone did a little it would make lighter work for all those involved. Please note that Committee positions are elected annually in November at the Annual General Meeting or throughout the year as positions are vacated. Committee meetings are held monthly.

Will it cost me any money?

Volunteering need cost you nothing but your time.  If you want to take any teaching/coaching or official exams the Squad will reimburse you for the cost of the course (subject to approval).

Can I develop my skills?

We recognise that supporting our Volunteers is essential, therefore we endeavour to develop individuals that are keen to progress by attending training courses or by being mentored to assist in this.

We appreciate that everyone has busy lives, however please do contact our Workforce Co-ordinator, Gillian Crompton on bmss.workforce@outlook.com, or alternatively, please contact our Chairperson on bmss.chair@outlook.com or any member of the Committee to have a chat to see how you might be able to help.
